Subject: USACO: December contest starts soon
               **** USACO CONTEST ANNOUNCEMENT *****

Both the 2006 USACO December Elite competition and the 2006 USACO
November Level 1 competition open on Friday, December 8:

The Elite competition will be *THREE HOURS* in length in total.
The Level 1 competition will be *55 MINUTES* in length in total.

This and all subsequent contests will be available until earlier
on Tuesday morning than previously so that we can get the results
out in a more timely manner.

Read the rules at the contest site if you've never read them.

Results will probably be available by noon USA Mountain Time on
Thursday, November 14 at:

and     http://ace.delos.com/DEC06LEVEL1results

No special announcement about the results will be sent.

First-timers should consider doing the 'test' program from the USACO
training pages at

           http://train.usaco.org

(to reinforce I/O skills) before trying the real contest (really
-- this is not an idle suggestion).

Future contest schedule:
   * 12-15 Jan, 2007 -- USACO January Contest
   *  9-12 Feb, 2007 -- USACO February Contest
   * 16-19 Mar, 2007 -- USACO March Contest
   * 26    Apr, 2007 -- US Open for USA and proctored international students
   * 27-30 Apr, 2007 -- US Open for all unproctored students
   * Early Jun, 2007 -- USA Invitational Competition (~8 days, by
invitation)
   * 15-22 Aug, 2007 -- IOI, Zagreb, Croatia (by invitation)

Doing very well on an elite contest will earn an invitation to the
next higher division. Many students move up through the season.
