Vabimo vas na 7. predavanje iz sklopa »Kolokviji na IJS« v akademskem letu 2024/25, ki bo danes, v torek, 8. aprila 2025, ob 13:00 v Veliki predavalnici Instituta »Jožef Stefan« na Jamovi cesti 39 v Ljubljani. Predavanje je organizirano v okviru Svetovnega kvantnega dne <https://quantum2025.org/> in bo v angleščini. Na voljo bodo kava, pijača in prigrizki.
Kvantni način izvajanja računov, simulacij in meritev

V predstavitvi bodo podana temeljna funkcionalna načela kvantne obdelave informacij in pregled stanja kvantnega računalnika na osnovi ujetih ionov v Innsbrucku. V računalniku je z uporabo nizov ujetih ionov implementiran kvantni informacijski procesor za izvajanje kvantnih operacij. Predstavljena bo razpoložljiva kvantna orodjarna in možnost razširljivosti tega pristopa. Metodologija kvantnega računalništva bo ponazorjena z analognimi in digitalnimi kvantnimi simulacijami. Z uporabo kvantnega orodja za Ramseyevo interferometrijo, izboljšano s pomočjo kvantne prepletenosti, so določeni optimalni parametri za kvantno meroslovje. Izvedba univerzalnega nabora vrat, odpornega na napake, bo osvetljena na primeru dveh logičnih kubitov znotraj kvantnega računalnika z ujetimi ioni. S podjetjem Alpine Quantum Technologies je bil razvit komercialno dostopen kvantni procesor tipa NISQ, ki je že dostopen za industrijske aplikacije.
O predavatelju: Rainer Blatt je redni član Avstrijske akademije znanosti, profesor fizike na Univerzi v Innsbrucku in višji znanstvenik na Inštitutu za kvantno optiko in kvantne informacije. Skupaj s sodelavci so kot prvi teleportirali kvantno informacijo z enega atoma na drug atom, ustvarili »kvantni bajt« in univerzalni kvantni simulator.

We invite you to the 7th lecture in the framework of »JSI Colloquia« in the academic year 2024/25, which will take place today, on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at 1:00 PM in the main lecture hall of Jožef Stefan Institute, Jamova cesta 39 in Ljubljana. The quantum way of doing computations, simulations and measurements

The presentation will review the fundamental functional principles of quantum information processing and provide an update on the status of the Innsbruck trapped-ion quantum computer. Using strings of trapped ions, a quantum information processor is implemented to carry out quantum operations. An overview of the available quantum toolbox will be presented and the scalability of this approach will be discussed. The quantum computing methodology will be exemplified through analog and digital quantum simulations. By utilizing the quantum toolbox for entanglement-enhanced Ramsey interferometry, optimal parameters are determined for quantum metrology. The implementation of a fault-tolerant universal set of gates will be highlighted on two logical qubits within the trapped-ion quantum computer. With Alpine Quantum Technologies, a commercially available NISQ-type quantum processor has been developed and is already accessible for industrial applications.
About the lecturer: Rainer Blatt is a full member of the Austrian Academy of Sciences, a professor of physics at the University of Innsbruck, and a senior scientist at the Institute for Quantum Optics and Quantum Information. He and his team were the first to teleport quantum information from one atom to another atom, to create a “quantum byte” and a universal quantum simulator.
