Kvantno računalništvo z atomi v svetlobnih pasteh

Quantum computing with atoms trapped by light

I will describe how we use single cesium atoms, each trapped in a site of a 3D optical lattice, as quantum bits. I will explain how we cool the atoms almost as much as is theoretically possible, how we can effectively reach into the middle of the array to change the quantum state of any atom, and how we sort the atoms in the lattice. Together these actions constitute a physical implementation of Maxwell's demon, previously only a thought experiment, which elucidates the deep connection between entropy and information.

Cordially invited!
