 Dear friends of the APGRD,

*Call for Entries: Ars Longa  2014 essay competition*.

Following the success of last year's essay competition, the APGRD is
delighted to host the Ars Longa Prize 2014. To mark the 150th anniversary
of Richard Strauss's birth, essays are invited on the theme of the operas
of Richard Strauss and Greek drama. The maximum length of the essay is 5000
words including footnotes. The best essay will receive a prize of £250 and
there will be a runner up award of £100. The judges will be Michael
Kennedy, Fiona Macintosh and Michael Silk. The deadline for submission is 6
January 2015 to be sent, with identifying information of the author on a
separate sheet, to: apgrd at classics.ox.ac.uk
