V zvezi s krizo humanistike: moralni filozof Harry Frankfurt je ok. 1985 
napisal esej o nakladanju, On Bullshit = o nezainteresiranosti moderne 
humanistike za resnico: "indifference to truth is the mark of the 
bullshitter". Kasneje je izšla še knjiga oz. dve (On Bull. in On Truth).

sources, in various forms of skepticism which deny that we can have any

Ne morem, da ne bi pritrdil tejle tezi: "instead of steadily building a body
of solid knowledge about literature, the field wanders in continuous
circles, bending with fashions and the pronouncements of its charismatic
leaders." - Najbolj pogosti frazi v literarnovednih razpravah sta: "po
sodobnih dognanjih" (= teza je dobra, ker je moderna, sodobna) in "po mnenju
(sic! mnenju in ne argumentu) enega od vodilnih teoretikov/kot pravi
svetovno znani/eminentni teoretik tainta" (= teza je dobra, ker zanjo jamči
neka razvpita avtoriteta). Konkretno: teza, da se zemlja vrti okoli sonca
(ali pa sonce okoli zemlje, vseeno), je resnična zato, ker tako trdi
znameniti poljski teoretik Kopernik. Naša "znanja" nam niso dobra, ker so
argumentirana in resnična, ampak ker so sodobna in avtoritativno izrečena. V
literarni znanosti je resničnost in argumentiranost celo hiba, znak
preteklih, zaostalih časov. Kar vzemite v roko poljubno številko poljubne
literarnovedne revije in prevereite.
