We've Come Along Way in STEM and Have More To Go


Abstract:



While there are essentially a equal number of men and women in populations of developed nations, women typically represent less than 20% of the students in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields (except Biological Sciences),  25% of the jobs in the STEM workforce and as few as 8% of STEM academia positions.  This didn't just happen and more importantly should not continue. This talk will review the current leaky pipeline which is the source of the problem and review the research into best practices to increase the numbers of women in STEM.
