Double Layers Fabrication of Oxide Thin Films by IBS and Effects of Oxygen-Plasma Assist

Discoveries of oxide high Tc superconductors (HTS) and following colossal magnetoresistive manganites (LBMO, LSMO, LCMO) triggered intensive research works including ZnO. Tunable microwave filters used for mobile phone system can be realized by stacking HTS (YBCO) and ferromagnetic manganite thin films. The double layered YBCO/LBMO was fabricated by IBS with oxygen-plasma assist. Very fine crystalline YBCO upperlayer can be grown. LBMO crystallinity was even improved during the double-layer depositions. Microwave absorption was investigated on YBCO/LCMO superlattice. It was infinitesimal for parallel magnetic field. Novel p-n junctions can be obtained by stacking ZnO and LSMO which show huge sensitivity to magnetic field. We tried to deposit ZnO (LSMO) on LSMO (ZnO). Three oriented phases (001), (110) and (111) of LSMO were grown on ZnO. Each single phase can be grown by controlling deposition conditions. Two oriented phases (001) and (110) of ZnO were grown on LSMO. These orientations can be interpreted in terms of interface energies (lattice matching) and surface energies.
