V predavanju bom opisal to metodo, njen hiter razvoj v petnajstih letih od njene uvedbe ter vpliv, ki ga je in bo imela na področja znanosti o materialih, kemije in molekularne biologije.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>Predavanje bo v angleščini.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>Napovednik predavanja najdete tudi na naslovu <a href="http://www.ijs.si/ijsw/Koledar_prireditev"><span style='color:#7F7F7F'>http://www.ijs.si/ijsw/Koledar_prireditev</span></a>, posnetke preteklih predavanj<span style='color:blue'> </span>pa na <a href="https://bit.ly/2YH8LYk"><span style='color:#7F7F7F'>Arhiv TV IJS</span></a> in <a href="http://videolectures.net/kolokviji_ijs"><span style='color:#7F7F7F'>http://videolectures.net/kolokviji_ijs</span></a>.<span lang=EN-US style='font-size:12.0pt'><o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><b><span style='color:#338684'>Lepo vabljeni!<o:p></o:p></span></b></p><p class=MsoNormal><strong><span lang=EN-US style='font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif'><o:p> </o:p></span></strong></p><p class=MsoNormal><strong><span lang=EN-US style='font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif'><o:p> </o:p></span></strong></p><p class=MsoNormal><span lang=EN-US>--</span><o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='color:black'>We invite you to the </span>i<span style='color:black'>nstitute colloquium</span> in the framework of<span style='color:black'> this year's Jožef Stefan days</span>, which will take place <b>today,<span style='color:black'> </span><span style='color:#338684'>Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at 1:00 PM</span></b> <b><span style='color:#338684'>»live«</span></b><span style='color:#338684'> in the Main lecture hall</span> of Jožef Stefan Institute<span style='color:#338684'> </span>at Jamova cesta 39 in Ljubljana. It allowed us to peek into the atomic structure of matter and provided us with a wealth of information about the materials around us, from minerals to proteins. The key crystallographic method behind this success has been x-ray diffraction. But this method has its limitations, the key one being that it requires a relatively large volume of the studied material. Recently, an alternative to x-ray diffraction emerged, which does not suffer from this limitation: three-dimensional electron diffraction. This method provides similar information to x-ray diffraction but in materials with more than a million times smaller volumes. In this talk, I will describe the method, its rapid development in the fifteen years since its introduction, and the impact this method has had and will have on the fields of materials science, chemistry, and molecular biology.</span></strong><strong><span style='font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif'><o:p></o:p></span></strong></p><p class=MsoNormal><strong><span style='font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif;font-weight:normal'><o:p> </o:p></span></strong></p><p class=MsoNormal><strong><span style='font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif;font-weight:normal'>The lecture will be held in English.<o:p></o:p></span></strong></p><p class=MsoNormal><strong><span style='font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif;font-weight:normal'><o:p> </o:p></span></strong></p><p class=MsoNormal>You can find the lecture trailer at <a href="http://www.ijs.si/ijsw/Koledar_prireditev"><span style='color:#7F7F7F'>http://www.ijs.si/ijsw/Koledar_prireditev</span></a>, and recordings of past lectures at <a href="https://bit.ly/2YH8LYk"><span style='color:#7F7F7F'>Arhiv TV IJS</span></a> and <a href="http://videolectures.net/kolokviji_ijs"><span style='color:#7F7F7F'>http://videolectures.net/kolokviji_ijs</span></a>.<strong><span style='font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif;font-weight:normal'><o:p></o:p></span></strong></p><p class=MsoNormal><strong><span style='font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif;font-weight:normal'><o:p> </o:p></span></strong></p><p class=MsoNormal><b><span style='color:#338684'>Cordially invited!<o:p></o:p></span></b></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p></div></body></html>
