Povečanje proizvodnje plutonija 238 v termičnih reaktorjih z dopiranjem goriva iz urana z majhnimi količinami manjšinskih aktinidov, kot sta neptunij 237 ali americij 241, ki imata velik presek za zajetje nevtronov, zelo učinkovito oteži rabo goriva za izdelavo in vzdrževanje jedrskega orožja, saj vključuje veliko razpadno toploto in veliko število nevtronov, ki nastanejo pri spontanem razcepu jeder. Izjemno kakovosten plutonij, primeren za izdelavo orožja, sicer lahko dobimo v prvi steni običajnega reaktorja s tekočim ali nasutim gorivom. S povečanjem deleža plutonija 238 v celotnem plutoniju z dopiranjem svežega goriva z manjšinskimi aktinidi bi lahko v teh reaktorjih pridobivali tudi zaščiteni plutonij z visoko odpornostjo proti proliferaciji.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal style='mso-margin-top-alt:auto;margin-bottom:12.0pt;text-align:justify'>Teoretično napoved mehanizma P3 so potrdili z obsevalnimi testi vzorcev neptunija in zmesi neptunija in urana v Eksperimentalnem hitrem reaktorju Joyo (JAEA) oziroma v Naprednem termičnem reaktorju (INL). Eksperimentalni rezultati se lepo skladajo s teorijo. Odpornost plutonija proti proliferaciji bi lahko ovrednotili z novo cenilno funkcijo, imenovano “privlačnost” (“attractiveness”) in definirano kot razmerje potenciala za razpadni donos in tehnološke zahtevnosti jedrske eksplozivne naprave, in s snovnimi lastnostmi materiala. Mehanizem P3 predstavlja alternativno rabo manjšinskih aktinidov namesto zakopavanja ali sežiga ob jedrskem razpadu. The enhancement of the production of plutonium 238 by doping the small amount of minor actinides such as neptunium 237 or americium 241 with large neutron capture cross-section into the uranium fuel in the thermal reactors is very effective to make the process of the nuclear weapon manufacture and maintenance technologically difficult because of high decay heat and large number of spontaneous fission neutrons. Super weapon grade plutonium could be produced in the blanket of a conventional fluidized bed reactor. However, by increasing the plutonium 238 ratio in the total plutonium by minor actinides doping into the fresh blanket fuel, the protected plutonium with high proliferation resistance can be bred in the fluidized bed reactor. <o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span lang=EN-US>The theoretical prediction of the P3 mechanism was demonstrated by the irradiation tests of neptunium in Experimental Fast Reactor Joyo (JAEA) and neptunium-uranium samples in Advanced Thermal Reactor (INL). The experimental results agreed very well with theoretical predictions. A new evaluation function, “attractiveness”, defined as a ratio of potential of fission yield to the technological difficulties of nuclear explosive device, has been proposed to evaluate the proliferation resistance of Pu based on the nuclear material property for plutonium categorization. Instead of the geological disposal or just the burning of minor actinides by the fission reaction, they should be treated as valuable fertile materials to enhance the proliferation resistance of plutonium in the thermal and fast breeder reactors for peace and sustainable prosperity in future.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>Cordially invited!<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif;color:#1F497D'><o:p> </o:p></span></p></div></body></html>
