Vabimo vas na 1. predavanje iz sklopa »Kolokviji na IJS« v akademskem letu 2023/24, ki bo v sredo, 20. septembra 2023, ob 13:00 v Veliki predavalnici Instituta »Jožef Stefan« na Jamovi cesti 39 v Ljubljani. Predavanje bo v angleščini. Na voljo bodo kava, pijača in prigrizki.

Sanje o sanjah: topologija s prostorsko-časovno oblikovano svetlobo
S hitrim napredkom laserske tehnologije so vse večje pozornosti deležna optična polja z različnimi topološkimi lastnostmi. V predavanju bom pregledal nedavno razvite tehnike, ki nam omogočajo neposredno oblikovanje optičnih polj v prostorskih in prostorsko-časovnih domenah. Valovni paketi z zapletenimi topološkimi strukturami se ponašajo z edinstvenimi lastnostmi, ki pri interakciji s snovjo lahko vodijo do pomembnih aplikacij.
O predavatelju: Qiwen Zhan je zaslužni professor nanofotonike na Univerzi za znanost in tehnologijo v Šanghaju na Kitajskem. Je avtor več kot 200 recenziranih člankov, ene knjige, devetih poglavij v knjigah in šestih patentnih prijav v ZDA. Njegovo glavno raziskovalno področje je manipulacija svetlobnega polja in interakcija svetlobe s snovjo.

Dreams about dreams: topology with spatiotemporally sculptured light
With rapid advances in laser technology, optical fields with various topological features have attracted increasing attention. In this talk I will review recently developed techniques that allow us to directly sculpt optical fields in the spatial and spatiotemporal domains. Wavepackets with complicated topological structures exhibit many unique properties and may find important applications when they interact with matter.
About the lecturer: Qiwen Zhan is a distinguished professor of nanophotonics at the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology in China. He is the author of more than 200 refereed publications, one book, 9 book chapters and 6 USA patent applications. His main research topic is light field manipulation and its interaction with matter.
