Evalvacija raziskovalnega sistema v Veliki Britaniji

Proof of concept funds at the University of Cambridge:
history, operation, management and benefits.
Evaluation of the research system in the UK
Historically the UK has always been known for the quality of its science and inventions – the jet engine, penicillin, MRI etc. – but also for its failure to translate them into commercial success for the UK. Starting with a new Government in 1997 the UK started on a journey that now places the commercialisation of its universities' research at the centre of its economic strategy and ranks in that activity alongside that of the international benchmark, the USA.
The journey we went through in the universities, university technology transfer and Government policy, the experiences we gained and the lessons we learnt – from academic culture change to the creation of university venture funds and the national evaluation of research and its impact – will be explored both from the UK and University of Cambridge perspective but also in the international context of growing interest in using science as a driver of future economies.
Cordially invited!
