Metode in uporaba magnetno-resonančnega slikanja s hiperpolariziranimi C-13
in H-3 kontrastnimi agenti

Nedavne inovacije pri polarizaciji žlahtnih plinov in biološko aktivnih
trdnih spojin (na primer 13C-pyrovate) so omogočile nova področja uporabe
MRI tehnike za študij funkcionalnih parametrov, kot je na primer metabolizem
rakavih celic. Te metode so postavile nove višje zahteve pri hitrosti
zajemanja podatkov ter občutljivosti detekcijskih tuljav, da bi lahko
učinkovito obravnavali neravnovesno spin-mrežno relaksacijo uporabljenih
agentov. V predavanju bo predstavljena osnovna tehnika polarizacije plinov
ter najnovejše metode, ki omogočajo doseganje še višjih stopenj
polarizacije. Predstavljene bodo tudi posebne metode polarizacijsko ojačane
MRI za študij delovanja pljuč ter metabolizma..

Methodology and applications of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) with
hyperpolarized C-13 and He-3 contrast agents

 

Recent innovations in polarization of noble gases and solid state
biologically active compounds such as 13C-pyruvate have enable new
applications of MRI for the study of functional parameters such as lung
ventilation and cancer metabolism. These methods have put increase demands
on acquisition speed and rf-coil sensitivity in order to address the
non-equilibrium spin-lattice (T1) decay of these agents and multi-nuclear
nature of the signal detection problem, e.g. imaging conventional proton and
the polarized nucleus either sequentially or simultaneously. This talk will
introduce the methodology behind polarization and methods to improve
polarization levels and image quality using dual-tuned coil designs and fast
MRI methods. Several applications of polarized MRI to study lung function
and metabolism will be presented.
