Biološke in biološko navdahnjene peptidne nanostrukture: fizikalne osnove in
aplikacije

 

Osnovni biološki gradniki kot so proteini in peptidi se samouredijo v
naravne biološke nanostrukture, kakršna so proteinska vlakna ali amiloidni
fibrili (AF). Drugo skupino nanomaterialov predstavljajo umetni biološko
navdahnjeni materiali, ki se sestojijo iz kemijsko sintetiziranih biomolekul
in se lahko samouredijo v nanocevke (PNT), nanokroglice, hidrogele, itd.. AF
in PNT so supramolekularni skupki, zgrajeni iz kristaliziranih podenot z
visoko stopnjo urejenosti na nanometerski skali in imajo edinstvene
intrinzične fizikalne lastnosti, kakor so na primer asimetrična prostorska
struktura in polarne dielektrične lastnosti. Predavanje bo osredotočeno na
osnovne fizikalne lastnosti bioloških in biološko navdahnjenih nanostruktur,
razvoj novih generacij biološko navdahnjenih nanomaterialov in njihovo
uporabo v nanofotoniki, nanomedicini in nano-bio-piezoelektroniki. 

Predavanje bo v angleščini.

Biological and Bioinspired Peptide Nanostructures: Basic Physics and
Applications

 

Elementary biological units such as proteins and peptides self-assemble into
natural biological nanostructures such as protein fibers and amyloid fibrils
(AF). Another class of nanomaterials is man-made bioinspired materials,
which are composed from chemically synthesized biomolecules and can self
assemble into nanotubes (PNT), nanospheres, hydrogels, etc. AF and PNT are
supramolecular  ensembles, which  are built-up from crystallized subunits
highly ordered at the nanoscale and possessing unique intrinsic physical
properties, such as quantum confined phenomena or asymmetric space structure
and polar dielectric properties. The Lecture will be focused on basic
physical properties of biological and bioinspired nanostructures,
development of novel generation of bioinspired nanomaterials and their
applications in nanophotonics, nanomedicine and nanobiopiezotronics.
