Študij mrežne dinamike z neelastičnim sipanjem nevtronov in numeričnim
modeliranjem
Raziskovanje mrežne dinamike s sipanjem nevtronov ima predvsem na področju
določevanja medatomskih vezi že dolgo in uspešno zgodovino.
direktno opazujemo s sipanjem nevtronov.
V predavanju se bomo torej posvetili primerom, kjer so nevtroni v
kombinaciji z numeričnimi metodami dali jasen vpogled v strukturne vzbuditve
v DNA, gorivnih celicah, termoelektričnih sistemih ter magnetnih materialih
(vključno z železo-pniktidnimi superprevodniki).
Predavanje bo v angleščini.
Lepo vabljeni!

Lattice dynamics studied by inelastic neutron scattering and numerical
modelling
Neutron scattering and lattice dynamics have a long history, in particular
with experimental data being used to refine inter-atomic force constants.
Nowadays there is still a strong synergy between experiment and simulation,
with the difference that ab initio computational methods are often now used
to analyse inelastic scattering data from complex systems. In addition, ab
initio methods give access to electronic and magnetic structure, the latter
being directly probed by neutron scattering techniques.
I will therefore show a range of examples of how neutrons and numerical
methods are giving clear insights into the role of structural excitations in
DNA, solid oxide fuel cells, thermoelectric materials and magnetic
materials, including iron-pnictide superconductors.
We look forward to meeting you at the "Kolokvij na IJS"!
