text-align:justify;text-justify:inter-ideograph'>Današnja izmenjava informacij
temelji na prenosu podatkov, govora in slik po telekomunikacijskem omrežju.
Optične širokopasovne brezžične komunikacije so ene najobetavnejših na trgu
širokopasovnega dostopa do multimedijskih storitev. Omogočajo nizke stroške
gradnje in delovanja, visoko stopnjo varnosti, hitro postavitev sistema in
široko frekvenčno območje uporabe, za katero licenca ni potrebna. Po drugi
strani so brezžične optične povezave zelo občutljive za meglo in za vrtinčenje
zračnih tokov. Predvidevamo, da bodo optične brezžične komunikacije oziroma
prostorske optične komunikacije, kot jih tudi imenujemo, igrale pomembno vlogo v
prihodnjih informacijskih superavtocestah.<span style='font-size:12.0pt'><o:p></o:p></span></p>

text-align:justify;text-justify:inter-ideograph'>Raziskovalna skupina Optikom
na graški tehniški univerzi TUG se ukvarja z raziskavami in razvojem optičnih
komunikacij s poudarkom na prostorski optiki (FSO). Sodeluje pri več domačih in
mednarodnih projektih, vključno z Evropsko mrežo odličnosti SatNEx, s projekti
ESA in projektom COST IC 0802, ki se nanaša na modeliranje kanala v
FSO-sistemih. Skupina sedaj raziskuje možnosti, kako povečati zanesljivost
FSO-sistemov z novim hibridnim FSO-RF-sistemom, ki upošteva različne vremenske
in atmosferske razmere, nove modulacijske in kodirne postopke in raznovrstne
načine raznolikega sprejema. Predavanje bo v angleškem jeziku.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class=MsoNormal style='text-align:justify;text-justify:inter-ideograph'><span
lang=EN-US>Today's information exchange depends on the transmission of data,
voice and multimedia across the telecommunication networks. Optical wireless
broadband communication represents one of the most promising approaches for
addressing the emerging broadband access market. It offers low start-up and
operational costs, high security, rapid deployment, high fibre-like bandwidths
where no licence is needed. On the other side optical wireless links can be
severely affected by fog and atmospheric turbulence. However, the optical
wireless communications, also refered to as free space optical communications,
will play a significant role in future information superhighways.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal style='text-align:justify;text-justify:inter-ideograph'><span
lang=EN-US><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal style='text-align:justify;text-justify:inter-ideograph'><span
lang=EN-US>The research group Optikom at TU Graz deals with the research and
development of optical communications with special emphasis on Free Space
Optics (FSO). It participates in several national and international projects,
including EU Network of Excellence SatNEx, several ESA projects, and COST
IC0802 action related to channel modelling for FSO systems. The group is
currently investigating how to increase the reliability of FSO systems by new
hybrid RF-FSO system design, considering different weather and atmospheric
conditions, new modulation and coding schemes and different diversity
techniques.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
